Multiple PCLXForm.exe Processes
Posted on | April 26, 2010 | 1 Comment
We have an unlimited Level III license.
The conversion system usualy runs 6 parallel processes that each loop on a separate input directory and run conversions with PCLXform.exe.
All of theses parallel processes are referencing the same tempdir where tmp_001,tmp_002,… subidectories are created.
It seems that sometimes, a same temp subdirectory is referenced by 2 or several parallel processes, generating out processes to stay blocked with poorly explicit popup message.
Even more, if more than 99 temporary subdirectories remain together in the tempdir, then all the processes are blocked at the same time and a popup message is generated
asking to clean up the tempdir.
Is there a way to run high volume conversions by using parallel processes and avoid those tempdir issues ?

DENDONCKER,
1) After you have to clean out the temp directories, how long can you run until you have to do that again?
2) Usually those tmp_001, etc directories get “left behind” when a process terminates abnormally ( GPF or user kills the process ).
Does that happen often? When the process completes normally, the temp subdirectory gets removed.
3) Can you give me examples ( or screenshots if possible ) of the poorly explicit popup messages ?
Do these cases ever happen when the number of temp subdirectories is not near 100?
4) When this occurs again can you run our TechSupport.exe program, create a TSZ file and email it to us at info@pagetech.com?
That helps alot to diagnose what’s going on.
Thanks,
Bob
