Rediect a modem output to a PDF file

Posted on | October 28, 2010 | 1 Comment

I have a modem device prints information that it receives to a Printer that is HP Laserjet compatible. Instead of hooking this modem up to an HP Laserjet using the Parallel port interface they have provided, I would like to connect it to my computer and have the information placed into a PDF file. Can you recommend a tool or SDK that I can use to do this?

You haven’t painted a clear overview of the workflow. Is it an external device that prints directly to the printer via a parallel cable? If so, then you will need a Parallel to Serial converter to print to a Serial Spooler (SSpool.exe in our PCLTool SDK) to capture the PCL and redirect as input to our PCLXForm.exe as input. PCLXForm can then split, convert, extract text, index and route the PDF created. Call me at (858) 794-6884 if you need to discuss your application rqmts. in more depth.
